“Linger” – Another Daily Prompt

Today’s WordPress Daily Prompt is titled “Linger” and it asks:

Tell us about times in which you linger — when you don’t want an event, or a day to end. What is it you love about these times? Why do you wish you could linger forever?

I’m a mom, and it seems in the last few months more than ever I’ve been noticing how fast my kids (ages 3 and 5) are growing up. Tonight, after I tucked my eldest into bed, I stood in her doorway and just lingered, looking at her beautiful face, watching the way she looked back at me, wondering if my mom had also experienced these little sad bits of nostalgia when I was little. I studied her growing hair, she’s growing it “long like Elsa’s” from the movie Frozen. I watched her for about a minute, only to be brought back to earth when she asked “Are you going to cry, Mommy?” I laughed and said no, I just love you so much and you’re getting so big. I’m trying to remember this you forever.

One more hug and one more kiss goodnight to my girl who won’t be 5 for much longer.

  1. So sweet! I get swept away with feelings like this all the time. It’s the best. Thanks for linking up to my Manic Mondays. It didn’t go to any particular post though. It just went to the main page of your blog. Was there a certain post you were trying to link up? I hope you’ll come by and link up again. I love finding other bloggers that way! 🙂

      1. Ha! No. Just when you add the link, you want to make sure that there is a specific blog post of YOURS in the link and not just a link to your main page. Make sense? the blog post can be anything parenting related for my link up, but you want people to come and read something of yours. I also try to help those who link up by tweeting out your posts and stuff. But, if it just takes me to your main page, then there is nothing really to share. Does that makes sense? So, next time, just link up your favorite parenting post, but click on the title of your post first, then copy and paste that URL code in instead of the URL code to the main page of your blog. I know it’s so confusing when you first start blogging! No worries. I’m thrilled that you linked up! 🙂

  2. Sweet and tender moment. My children are much older and I still linger in the same way when I catch them unexpectandly. I like how your daughter wants her hair like a character she likes. So adorable.
